Assessment of diet quality and nutrition status of Turkish elite adolescent male soccer players

This study aimed to assess the anthropometric characteristics, nutrient intake levels, nutritional status of elite adolescent soccer players, and dietary quality athletes. Elite male players youth team a club in Turkish Super League were included this by categorizing them into three separate groups as U14/U15 (n=32), U16/U17 (n=44), U19 (n=17). Anthropometric measurements athletes food consumption records for consecutive days recorded during competition season. Although available energy value group was higher than other groups, determined be at suboptimal level all groups. The had highest Health Eating Index-2015 score (43.7±5.57), while 42.9±4.79 42.1±3.69 (p>0.05), 93.5% with poor diet quality. carbohydrate 5.3±1.16 g/kg body mass/day group, it 4.4 ± 0.87 4.4±0.94 group. In study, found out that football quality, their inadequate, fat high, protein high U14/15 whereas recommended levels Providing recurrent training families would assist gaining healthy eating habits well increasing performance.
